Shawn ‘s search for “the pure funk” came later in life. Growing up in Alberta (a relatively funk free zone) he started playing guitar at age 12. The funk eluded him until he moved to Vancouver in 1995 to pursue a career in Music and enrolled in the recording program at Columbia academy. But with a trip to Llollapalooza in 96, when he saw George Clinton and the P-funk all stars, the funk started to seep through every pore in his body and a new quest began. He then co-founded lexalicious and played in other projects in Vancouver. He also started to play percussion at this time. Shawn moved to Montreal in 1998 and enrolled in the music program at Vanier college, and started to play and sit in with bands like Voodoo Jazz, Dibondoko, 4 brass and The Mophonq organization to name a few. He has recently opened his own commercial multi-track studio.
